Crime Prevention (Adults)
Crime and violence tear at the very fabric of America. We have all felt vulnerable and scared as a result of the most heinous of crimes, terrorism. And, keeping our loved ones and our nation safe is a top priority to all Americans. We must safeguard our communities against crime. Did you know that you can help safeguard your community just by becoming involved in neighborhood activities such as cleaning up parks and community centers, joining neighborhood watch programs, volunteering for citizen patrols, or spending time with our country's young people.
Numerous studies show that a child's chances to become productive, well-adjusted members of society increase if at least one caring, positive adult (parent or other) is present. Kids who spend quality time with an adult are less likely to get involved in destructive behaviors -- both self-destructive behavior, and behavior that is destructive to others.
